My Shiny New Problem, by Dr. Ogi Ressel
Monday, February 2nd 2009Warmest wishes to all;
Do you know what frustrates the hell out of me? It's chiropractors who
do not think much of themselves.
There seems to a glut of doctors out there who are not doing very well
in practice - but could be. They simply need to decide.
The problem I have is that these doctors are not reaching as many people
as they could be. They are not saving the lives of children they could be
saving - and that is the real shame. ...and of course, the medical-pharmaceutical
industry loves this!
What is better than a chiropractor who is not living to his/her potential -
"Pass the Tylenol, honey, or the prednisone, or the Ritalin, or the whole
armamentarium of choice chemicals to make the lives of all us poor slobs
so much better!"
Listen.....you are the only one who stands in the way of total pharmaceutical
domination of the planet. Will you create a bang in your life, or a whimper?
Will you be one of those that future chiropractors look up to and say;
"He made a difference - he was awesome", or will they wonder who you were?
The choice is entirely yours!
Many students at college, look to their senior mentors - about to graduate -
with a degree of awe. And these future doctors tell their junior cohorts that
life is tough, I can't get new patients to fill my grad requirements, etc. And of
course new doctors who have just set up their practice repeat this mantra: I
can't get new ones, the bills are pilling up, income is low, don't expect much,
life is tough, it's not a joy ride, you may need a part-time j.o.b., and that whole
plethora of false beliefs. ....and of course, the college professors join this
lamenting group. Guess what? Your Life becomes tough, you can't get new
ones, bills are pilling up, ...and you're looking for a part-time job. This prophesy
becomes your reality and you join in teaching others the same thing you have
been taught. ...And you think this is Life!
Are doctors more hung up on having a problem and feeling free to able to talk
about it with their friends who are at the same level as themselves? Is there
some safety in being able to openly talk about this shiny new problem? Or is
it because they are afraid to step outside their comfort zone? Is it more
comfortable and reassuring to talk with friends about how no one is really
getting anywhere and all are stuck at that same survival level? There is reality
in these words - some doctors get comfort in the fact that they are not the only
ones not winning this game. That others are also struggling. Safety in numbers.
It almost makes it Ok... Almost.
Or is it that they are afraid of being successful and not fitting in with their friends
and "old" way of life? You are where you are, because you are where you are!
Have I missed anything?
Listen up....When I was at college, I experienced the same thing. But, I
decided that being in the outpatient clinic was a wonderful opportunity to
make all sorts of mistakes - to learn to practice. So...when I graduated,
I had some 1400 adjustments under my belt, and close to 400 new
patients....and most of those were under 10 years old - this in 1976, a
time when chiropractors just did not see children. I had no stops in my life.
I was on fire.
When I started practice, I was the busiest chiropractor in my town within
a year. Why? I never had that poverty and scarcity mentality. I never saw
a p.r.o.b.l.e.m. - only opportunity. ...and I eventually developed the top
children's and family practice in North America.
The thing is that you can do this also. You simply need to decide that this
is something you want and that this is something you are going to have.
Period. And never look back! And don't check with your friends. Follow
your heart and follow your dream. And just do it!
There is a wonderful feeling you get in your heart when you hold as
mother's face in your hands as she is thanking you for helping her child
with Asthma.
Or holding hands with a senior citizen and letting those hands speak to
you of a life lived, of hard work, of fear, of victories earned, and of love.
And you let these moments pass you by because you are too consumed
with fear and survival to notice. Not Ok! I am going to suggest you read
Wayne Dyer's book, "There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem".
As well, pick up a copy of "The Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman. These
will get your heart, Spirit and mind primed.
So...here is what I am asking you to do.
First :
Decide that you've had enough. Decide that you were not meant to seek
out some meagre existence. That you became a chiropractor to help as
many as you can - including yourself! That you were meant for better things.
That you want to be a better provider for your family and a better doctor.
Get really pissed off! (if you find my words upsetting - you need a life. I
have weekly beatings for you!)
Second:
Go to my website, www.practiceevolution.com, and click on the
"Practice Health Mini-Check-up" icon. Answer all the questions as best as
you can and hit "Submit" at the end. I'll sit down with you for approx. 45-60
minutes and go over your answers with you.... And show you where your pitfalls
lie. ...And why.... And how to get out of this in an easy, logical fashion, with no
stress and worry. I'll give you lots of advice and suggestions and perhaps some
homework as well. And I'll get you on the road to having the practice of your
dreams - and being the doctor you have always wanted to be. You have to believe
me when I say that it really is easy. You just need to let go of some things
that you have told yourself - they may not be true.
Third:
Do it NOW, before those dreaded diseases called "Procrastination" and
"Fear" strike again!
Fourth:
Do it NOW! Don't even wait to finish reading this THOT!!!!!
Fifth:
Do it NOW!
Sixth:
See, you did it! and you are beginning to feel a bit better already. Good!
Talk with you soon.
Warmest wishes,
Dr. Ogi Ressel
